Pawventures

About Pawventures

Pawventures was born from the frustration of planning trips with a pet. Anyone who has tried to book a hotel, find a restaurant patio that allows dogs, or figure out airline pet policies knows the pain: scattered information, outdated listings, and vague "pet-friendly" labels that turn out to mean a $200 surcharge and a hostile front desk.

We decided to fix that.

What We Do

We have built the most comprehensive database of pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, and cities so you never have to leave your best friend behind. Every listing is verified and reviewed by real pet parents who have actually stayed, dined, and traveled with their dogs.

How We Work

Our city guides rate destinations on a pet-friendliness scale from 1 to 10, covering everything from the number of dog parks and off-leash beaches to local pet regulations and restaurant attitudes. We dig into the details that matter: Are there water bowls outside the shops? Do the parks have waste bag stations? Can your dog ride the local transit?

Our Editorial Process

Every guide on Pawventures goes through a structured editorial process before publication. We start by visiting the destination ourselves with our own dogs. Then we cross-reference with local pet communities, veterinary services, and other traveling pet parents who have recently visited. We verify pet policies directly with hotels, restaurants, and airlines -- because websites are often outdated or misleading about what "pet-friendly" actually means on the ground.

We update our guides at least twice a year and whenever we receive verified reports of policy changes -- a hotel that dropped its pet program, a city that added new off-leash parks, or an airline that changed its carrier requirements. If a guide contains outdated information, we pull it until we can verify the current situation.

Our Rating Methodology

When we rate a destination, we evaluate six factors: number and quality of dog parks and off-leash areas, pet-friendly restaurant and cafe availability, hotel pet policy transparency and fees, local veterinary access and emergency pet care, public transportation pet rules, and overall community attitude toward dogs in public spaces. Each factor is documented and the methodology is consistent across all destinations so you can compare cities fairly.

Transparency

Some links on Pawventures are affiliate links. When you book pet-friendly accommodation, buy gear, or sign up for services through our links, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This revenue keeps the site free and independent. Our recommendations are never influenced by affiliate partnerships -- if a place is not truly pet-friendly, it does not make our list regardless of commission potential.
